 Duration: Summer Internship (May–August, flexible based on school schedule)
 

  

We are seeking a detail-oriented Engineering Summer Intern to support process documentation and standardization efforts within our electronics circuit board manufacturing environment. This role will focus on creating, updating, and organizing controlled documentation to support compliance with ITAR, EAR, AS9100, ISO 13485, and ISO 9001 standards. The ideal candidate is interested in manufacturing processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement within a highly regulated industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe and document PCB assembly and manufacturing processes (SMT, through-hole, inspection, testing, etc.)
  • Create and revise standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, process flows, and visual aids
  • Ensure all documentation meets internal document control requirements and external regulatory standards (ITAR, EAR, AS9100, ISO 13485, ISO 9001)
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to validate process accuracy and completeness
  • Support document control activities, including revision tracking, formatting, and organization
  • Identify opportunities to improve clarity, consistency, and efficiency in current processes
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, error-proofing)
  • Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of controlled technical data

Requirements

  

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured documentation requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel; Visio or similar tools preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and collaboratively

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to electronics manufacturing or PCB assembly processes
  • Familiarity with quality management systems or regulated environments
  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
  • Experience with process mapping, flowcharting, or technical documentation

Compliance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR/EAR regulations (if applicable)
  • Ability to adhere to export control and data security requirements
