SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Develop CMM programs using CAD models.  Contribute to development of quality inspection plans for first piece setup acceptance, AQL, SPC, and final inspection. Interpret customer drawings and specifications, and reference company work instructions and process travelers.  Assist in developing other programmers through training and peer reviews.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Advanced blueprint reading, GD&T & shop math (Trigonometry)
  • Ability to review customer drawings for errors in GD&T and provide feedback
  • Develop CMM programs in a virtual offline software using CAD based models 
  • Responsible for CMM program document change control management
  • Analyze drawings, part specifications, tolerances, and design data to generate CMM programs
  • Review and collaborate in the development of detailed manufacturing processes for machined parts
  • Revise programs to improve programs and instructions
  • Manage the control of programs and instructions per FMI ISO instructions and POR protocols
  • Assist with implementation of new technologies and process improvements
  • Peer Reviewing CMM programs from programmers within the company
  • Document FMI standards for CMM Programming procedures
  • Assist with development and documentation of metrology BKMs 
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
  • Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector Certification desirable

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience programming CMMs preferably in a machining environment
  • Certified training to ASME Y14.5:2009 preferred
  • Mitutoyo MCOSMOS 4.x Software programming experience strongly preferred, although other programming platforms will be considered. 
  • Ability to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools including weight gauge, micrometer, caliper scale (linear), gauge blocks, thread gauges, and comparative standards
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with fellow employees and customers in a professional manner
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Independent; can work with limited supervision and direction
  • NPI or R&D experience preferred
