About the Role
Overview

The Assistant Maintenance Manager partners with the Chief Engineer to support the overall operation, maintenance, and improvement of the property. This role provides leadership to the maintenance team, helps coordinate daily work activities, and ensures building systems, equipment, and grounds are properly maintained. The position combines hands-on technical support with team leadership, project coordination, and a focus on safety and efficiency.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in overseeing daily maintenance operations, ensuring work orders and preventative maintenance tasks are completed efficiently
  • Support leadership efforts by training, mentoring, and guiding maintenance and grounds team members
  • Assign tasks and projects to team members, providing clear direction and follow-up to ensure completion
  • Collaborate with other departments, including homeowner services, to support overall property operations and guest satisfaction
  • Participate in leadership meetings, property initiatives, and departmental planning efforts
  • Respond to guest concerns or maintenance-related issues and ensure timely and effective resolution
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, taking appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment
  • Assist in managing and executing capital projects, renovations, and property improvements
  • Help implement and maintain programs for the upkeep of guest rooms, associate areas, equipment, and landscaping
  • Ensure team members are trained on emergency procedures and that protocols are consistently followed
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with team members, leadership, guests, and external partners
  • Support technical tasks as needed, including systems troubleshooting and specialized repairs such as door lock programming
  • Monitor compliance with safety standards, including OSHA guidelines and company policies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership

‎Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience leading or supervising a maintenance team, with a focus on coaching and development\
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in a resort setting
  • Minimum of 5 years of resort maintenance experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs, including weekends and holidays
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable interacting with individuals at all levels, including guests, team members, leadership, and homeowners
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability and ownership over responsibilities
  • Knowledge of building systems, maintenance operations, and safety standards within a hospitality environment
  • Familiarity with certifications such as CPO or HVAC is preferred
  • Working knowledge of property or rooms management systems is a plus
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, and database systems
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Commitment to delivering excellent service and supporting team success
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Reliable work habits and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
