Production Scheduler

Day in the Life at ID3
Production Scheduler – Custom Fabrication & Experiential Builds
At ID3, the Production Scheduler is the central link between project planning and shop execution. This role ensures that every project moves efficiently from design and detailing into fabrication and production.
Working closely with Project Managers, CAD Detailers, and shop leadership, the Production Scheduler keeps projects organized, materials moving, and production timelines aligned so the team can deliver complex builds on schedule.
If you enjoy coordinating moving parts, solving scheduling challenges, and working in a fast-paced fabrication environment, this role is critical to our success.
Reviewing the Production Pipeline
The day typically begins by reviewing the production schedule and upcoming project milestones.
Production Schedulers start by:
Reviewing project timelines with Project Managers
Confirming drawing readiness with CAD Detailers
Evaluating shop capacity across departments including carpentry, metal, paint, and graphics
Identifying potential schedule conflicts or resource needs
The goal is to ensure projects entering production are fully detailed, approved, and ready for fabrication.
Coordinating with Detailing and Fabrication Teams
As projects move closer to production, the Production Scheduler works closely with detailing and shop teams to ensure the schedule reflects real-time shop conditions.
This may include:
Confirming drawing completion and release schedules with CAD Detailers
Coordinating production timelines with fabrication leads
Adjusting schedules based on project priorities, material availability, and shop workload
Communicating scheduling updates to project managers
Strong communication helps keep all teams aligned and prevents production bottlenecks.
Managing Production Flow
During the day, the Production Scheduler continuously monitors shop progress and project movement.
This often includes:
Tracking fabrication progress across departments
Updating production schedules to reflect real-time progress
Identifying risks to project deadlines and working with teams to resolve them
Ensuring projects are staged properly for the next phase of fabrication or installation
Because many ID3 projects are custom and fast-moving, adaptability and problem-solving are key.
Preparing for Tomorrow’s Builds
Before the day wraps up, the Production Scheduler ensures the next day’s production plan is ready.
This may involve:
Confirming drawings and materials are ready for fabrication
Aligning priorities with Project Managers and shop leadership
Preparing updated schedules for the fabrication teams
Ensuring projects remain on track for delivery and installation deadlines
A well-prepared schedule keeps the shop running smoothly and projects moving forward.
