Job Description

Our Building Engineering team are looking for a Senior level Mechanical Engineer to join their national team. This will be a technically focused role, where you will be working on large, multi-disciplinary projects. 

Whilst our preference is for the role to be based in Adelaide, this role can also be based in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne. 

How you’ll make a difference:

  • Leverage your mechanical design expertise to deliver innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective outcomes across diverse sectors, primarily focusing on defence projects. Ensure projects meet client expectations and industry standards. 

  • Take ownership of mechanical design packages for major building projects, ensuring technical excellence in HVAC and building services systems while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate various engineering disciplines and achieve cohesive project outcomes.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement within the team, while sharing best practices and insights from your own experience in the field.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in design processes and methodologies, prepare detailed technical design documentation under senior guidance, and incorporate sustainable mechanical design initiatives to enhance project efficiency and environmental impact.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver coordinated solutions that address complex engineering challenges, maintain strong working relationships, and contribute to repeat business through exceptional project delivery and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

  • BEng in Mechanical Engineering with knowledge or exposure to Camel or IES software (not essential but advantageous). Relevant registration (RPEQ, RPEV) and working towards CPEng
  • Experience working for a Building Services Consultancy or have demonstrable design experience working as a Mechanical Engineer for a Contractor or State Government.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of standards, requirements and legislation related to building services design in Queensland
  • Prior experience or understanding of Revit, not essential but advantageous.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Previous Defence experience is strongly preferred, with nuclear industry experience highly regarded.

Please note, due to the nature of the projects Australian Citizenship is required, with previous or current defence clearance highly regarded.
