About the Role
Job Title: Pipe Fitter Trainee
Location: Pascagoula, MS
Position Overview:
The Pipe Fitter Trainee position is an entry-level role designed to develop the necessary skills required to become a Pipe Fitter. Trainees will receive hands-on experience and training in pipe fitting, welding, and shipbuilding operations.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of six (6) months of experience in welding or other technical training preferred.
- Hands-on experience using hand tools and/or welding equipment is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Capable of working in confined or enclosed spaces.
- Must be comfortable working at heights greater than 5 feet.
- Ability to wear and work with a respirator when applicable.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Physically capable of bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing as required.
- Strong math skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Learn to tack, weld, and assist experienced Pipe Fitters.
- Develop basic welding and fitting skills, including stick, short arc, flux core, and aluminum tack welding.
- Gain hands-on experience with shipbuilding operations and job-related tools.
- Assist Pipe Welders and perform fire watch duties as needed.
- Learn to operate tools such as levels, squares, chipping hammers, grinders, tape measures, and torches.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and safety regulations, including environmental and quality system procedures.
- Work overtime as required.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
