Governance Coordinator

Community Association Manager (CAM)


Job Purpose and Summary

The Governance Coordinator’s role is to ensure that the standards established in the community’s governing documents are upheld through the process outlined in the Governance Policy established by the Board.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of the community, noting violations using the management software’s mobile app;
  • Produce and send notices from the management software platform;
  • Receive and respond to phone and email communications from owners concerning governance matters;
  • Monitor the status of outstanding violation matters and schedule hearings as required by the community’s governance policy;
  • Monitor and charge fines based on direction by the Board or the community’s governance policy;
  • Provide reports and data on governance activity, as requested, for the periodic Manager’s Report;
  • Other tasks, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

  • Can follow written and oral instructions and work with limited supervision;
  • Proficient typing skills with a minimum of 40 words per minute;
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities;
  • Ability to work independently with the flexibility to work on several projects concurrently;
  • Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality;
  • Use of proper spoken and written communication of the English language, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation;
  • Be detail-oriented.

Education or Formal Training

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of the common-interest community industry is preferred.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office setting with the use of standard office equipment. Employees serving in this position will be issued a company-owned laptop computer.


Work is performed both indoors and in a vehicle.


The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.


Nearly 100% of this position is performed while sitting at a desk or driving in a vehicle. On occasion, duties of this position may require walking minimal distances of less than ½ mile, lifting items 15 to 20 pounds, and pushing items 40 pounds.
