The Rehabilitation & Wellness Pavilion features 20 private rooms for short-term rehabilitation and is also home to a membership-based health club for seniors over the age of 55. The more than 30 physical, occupational, and speech therapists are part of the skilled nursing and medical team providing inpatient and outpatient services to residents and guests from the community. The Maintenance Technician II assists in maintaining the facility and grounds in a safe and comfortable manner. This includes installing, maintaining and improving facility equipment and structures.


MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:

  1. Maintains all campus facilities’ structures and equipment, i.e. HVAC, water system, electrical, plumbing, vehicles and grounds.
  2. Troubleshooting specific facility structural or mechanical problems and repairing as needed.
  3. Installs and maintains all equipment i.e. laundry, dietary, nursing and administrative equipment.
  4. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  5. Performs routine test on fire alarms and emergency generator to ensure they are operable during emergency situations. Maintains records of test results.
  6. Maintains saltwater pool, chemical lines and logs and record test results.
  7. Ensure preventative maintenance service is performed and maintains preventative maintenance records.
  8. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment.
  9. Coordinate contractor services as needed.
  10. Order parts and supplies as needed.
  11. Maintains periodic inventory of parts and supplies to ensure necessary par levels.
  12. Maintains state and federal required logs.
  13. Comply with OSHA, Life Safety and Health rules.
  14. Maintains required in-services.
  15. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to use all industrial and physical plant service equipment and machines.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to work on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural and water systems in a safe and proper manner.
  • Skilled in reading schematics, charts, diagrams, etc.
  • Has a basic knowledge of associated formulas and measuring systems.
  • Skilled in problem solving relating to facility maintenance.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather.
  • Physical exertion required at least 80% of the time. Physical exertion is described as standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing. Intermittent lifting, pushing and carrying objects weighing 100 lbs.
  • Use of ladders and lifts or special jobs.
  • May be subject to noisy, hot or cold, humid and busy environment.
  • Low exposure to infectious diseases.
  • In an emergency, is expected to respond and includes the possibility of evacuation of residents.
  • Physical job demands may be subject to possible modifications to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.



Requirements

Education: Technical or Trade School Certification preferred.

Licensure/ Certification: Valid Driver’s License Class. Certified Pool Tech or the ability to obtain.


Experience: At least 2 years of related experience in maintenance. Working knowledge of OSHA, Life Safety, State and Federal codes pertaining to healthcare facilities. Hands on experience in repairing structures and equipment associated with healthcare facilities.


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
