Function Overview

 

GIC Sales Strategy & Intelligence team partners with our global General Mills sales teams in providing them with analytical horsepower and enable business continuity so they can focus on core activities – Selling, driving distribution gains, and optimizing merchandising plans to deliver sales volume targets. We enable customer, pricing & promotion strategies across the global markets through our focused capabilities of Sales Execution, Trade & Strategic Revenue Management and Category Management. Teams within function are aligned to the above focused capabilities for each of our markets and each team member specializes in domains of Advanced Analytics, Visual Insights & Planogramming.

Role Overview

 

The Pet Specialty’s Trade Planning Lead (TPL) is responsible for driving incremental volume growth and sustaining existing volume by understanding customer needs and linking them to GMI’s product and service strategies.

 

In this role you will manage data analytics, insights, trade planning and channel engagement for PetSmart + Petco. You will partner closely with the Channel Development Manager to drive business growth. You will have the opportunity to work directly with the customer team two of GMI Pet’s largest customers, gain significant exposure to a wide array of systems & platforms and help lead the innovation pipeline, including category expansion.

 

Strong candidates for this role will have previous experience collaborating closely with cross-functional partners, the ability to flex between strategic vision and execution, and strong analytics experience.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
 

50% of Time
Problem Solving, Analytics & Insights

·       Retrieve and analyze syndicated customer and consumer data to understand category and/or industry trends

·       Retrieve and analyze customer portal data and syndicated POS data to understand business trends and key selling opportunities

·       Problem solving is a key focus of the role, providing business solutions to customer activities with a concise recap of data and information to form an opinion of business conditions

·       Assess trends, market performance, and competitive data & insights to provide analysis of performance and summarizing with proposed solutions and actions

·       Provide ongoing maintenance for automated sales reporting for the zone (new brand analysis, market share reporting)

·       Accelerate Digital Growth at PetSmart & Petco by retrieving and analyzing 3rd party digital data to provide actionable digital insights

·       Partner with the CDM to analyze performance drivers, summarizing and sharing proposed solutions with Omni Sales

 

30% of Time
Executional Excellence – Trade Planning Support

·       Build, run and maintain recurring automated sales reporting for channel (price tracking & execution, MRR insights)

·       Meet annual sales goals by maintaining accurate sales planning and spending information in Blue Planner & Sales Volume Estimate

·       Build & maintain volume forecast accuracy reporting

·       Collaborate with internal teams to assess national trade strategies and optimize GMI resources.

·       Ensure TAT is upheld via awareness on process requirements, meeting benchmark time estimates and through articulate expectation settings with the stakeholder.

·       Guarantee data quality and accuracy through thorough comprehension of request, accurate application of tools/platforms with an eye for detail and a robust data & logic check.

·       CI Mindset: develop and drive a lens of continuous improvement for the projects, process & larger team.

·       Project Management: Juggle multiple projects including long range projects and own project scoping, to trouble shooting, collaborating to timely communication/iterations with peers and stakeholders to high impact completion and presentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
Experience

Minimum years of related experience required:
4-6 years of relevant Business Reporting, Analytics & Visualization experience in CPG (or related) industry

Preferred years of related experience:
5-6 years of Business Reporting, Analytics & Visualization experience, Data Modelling preferred
·       Education – Full time graduation from an accredited university (Mandatory- Note: This is the minimum education criteria which cannot be altered)

·       Strong command over oral and written English

·       Multitasking ability - work on a host of tools/databases and software/platforms effectively to manifest superior results.

·       Organization and Prioritization - in line with the team's goals
