About this Opportunity:

 The Environmental Health, Safety and Compliance Coordinator is responsible for fostering and maintaining a strong culture of safety and compliance within all Vander-Bend Manufacturing Northern California facilities. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirement while implementing best practices for workplace safety and environmental health. 


Responsibilities:

  • Develop, Implement, and continuously improve EHS policies and procedures that comply with health and safety regulations. 
  • Work closely and collaborate with EHS Director.
  • Develop training materials in collaboration with HR.  
  • Train employees on health and safety procedures, best practices and regulatory compliance.    
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards and EHS violations. 
  • Perform root cause analysis for identified risks and implement corrective/preventive measures.  
  • Monitor employee activities, processes, and workspace to ensure adherence to safety standards. 
  • Ensure the company is always prepared to submit all the relevant health, safety, and regulatory documents. 
  • Maintain all active environmental and safety permits, certifications, and memberships. 
  • Promote and enforce the use of safer work equipment, materials, PPE, and supplies. 
  • Promote employee engagement in safety by encouraging and responding to and correcting issues related to observations and suggestions.  
  • Lead monthly Safety Meetings or other safety-related events including job hazard assessments. 
  • Track and investigate incidents, generating detailed reports and recommendations. . 
  • Monitor exposure to certain hazardous chemicals or materials used in the manufacturing process. 
  • Report to Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and other relevant regulatory bodies.. 
  • Keep up to date with the latest EHS trends, policies, regulations, and best practices. 
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response planning.  
  • Collaborate and build long-term relationships with key stakeholders such as the management team, customers, and regulatory agencies. 
  • Travel to the Stockton facility on a bi-weekly basis (one day every two weeks) to support EHS initiatives, ensure compliance, and partner with on-site teams 

Requirements

  • An associate degree in occupational health or a related field. 
  • A minimum of two years’ experience as an EHS coordinator or a similar role. 
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations and standards such as OSHA, EPA, ANSI, etc. 


 Knowledge 

  • Proficiency in navigating regulatory resources and databases, including OSHA and applicable local, state, and federal agency websites 
  • The ability to read and interpret safety data sheets. 
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as SmartSheet, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Strong leadership and training abilities. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
