About the Role
As a member of the multidisciplinary team, you will provide a range of clinical and therapeutic interventions using the Strengths Model of Recovery-Orientated Practice across all aspects of the Community Acute Response Team (CART) including Crisis/Triage/EDMH and MHaP (PACER) Teams.
You will contribute to the overall strength of the service by bringing discipline specific knowledge and skills and taking responsibility for representing these within clinical meetings.
- Provide comprehensive face to face and telephone assessments including mental state assessment, risk assessment and planning of appropriate crisis interventions in the least restrictive environment to ensure that people in an acute phase of a mental illness receive high quality treatment.
- Use understanding and working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014 and other relevant legislation to ensure least restrictive practice is the standard approach and consumers rights are protected and to guide other less experienced practitioners
- Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including sound oral and writing skills
- Show ability to work independently in the community and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Classifications for this position will range from
- OT/SW Grade 2 YB20 - YB23 or YC42 - YC45 ($88,030 - $101,197 per annum pro rata)
- Psychologist Grade 2 PK1 - PK4 ($94,478- $106,906 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution
- Masters Degree or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology recognized by the Australian Psychological Society and registered as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Bachelor of Social Work (B.SW). Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work and registered as a Social Worker with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. Eligible for membership of Australian Association of Occupational Therapy and registered as an Occupational Therapist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- A current Victorian driver’s licence.
- A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal history check, or willing to obtain

The Community Acute Response Team (CART) of SVMH comprises Psychiatric Triage, Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT), Emergency Department Mental Health (EDMH), Mental Health and Police (PACER), Extended Triage and HOPE (Suicide Prevention) programs.
