Job Description

BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We’re leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We’re proud of brands, like COLORBOND ® steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

Our Product Prototyping & Evaluation Team at the Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Product Testing & Systems Coordinator to join their Weathering Laboratory team. As part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

In this role, you will play a key part in managing and improving product testing systems, laboratory processes and information systems to ensure testing activities are well governed, data integrity is maintained, and systems are fit for purpose. You’ll work closely with laboratory teams and stakeholders to support testing programs, improve processes, and enable consistent, reliable testing outcomes.

This Monday to Friday role offers market-leading superannuation, ongoing development opportunities, and participation in our annual profit‑share program.

What Will You Do?
Utilising your experience, knowledge, skills and critical thinking, in addition to assisting with the daily running of the Weathering Laboratory, you will improve testing systems, processes and data management across laboratory environments. You will:

  • coordinate, conduct and support product testing activities to enable safe, efficient and timely testing outcomes
  • administer and continuously identify improvements to laboratory and testing information systems to ensure accurate data capture, traceability and reporting
  • support the development, validation and optimisation of testing methods, procedures and systems
  • partner with laboratory teams and stakeholders to identify and deliver system and process improvements
  • analyse testing data and system outputs to drive continuous improvement, compliance and testing capability

More About You

A passion for systems, processes and product testing, and the challenge of improving how testing is planned, executed and reported, is what will make you successful. You’ll bring:

  • experience working with laboratory, testing or quality systems in a manufacturing or technical environment
  • strong capability in systems thinking, process improvement and data-driven problem solving
  • experience supporting or administering information systems used for testing, quality or technical data
  • well-developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • a collaborative communication style, with the ability to work effectively across cross‑functional teams and influence stakeholders

Exposure to laboratory or testing information systems and data tools will be highly regarded. This may include experience with LIMS platforms, databases, reporting tools (e.g. Power BI), or system integration supporting testing and quality processes.
