South Chicago Packing LLC, located in Chicago, IL, produces animal-based oil, shortening, and wax products used in a variety of food and non-food applications.
About the Role

Position Description:

Perform duties to prepare and execute the shipment and receipt of product, raw materials and supplies. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload materials from inbound and outbound trucks
  • Schedule dock appointments with customers and third-party carriers
  • Verify condition and quantity of materials being shipped or received
  • Move, store, stack and deliver materials and products to designated storage or production areas
  • Update inventory system by scanning product in and out of rack and warehouse locations
  • Conduct and complete trailer inspections and documentation
  • Operate material handling equipment 
  • Conduct weekly and monthly cycle counts of inventory
  • Conduct on-the-job training of co-workers as needed
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
  • Maintain a safety-minded attitude that supports the Company’s safety culture
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

  • None

 

Requirements:

  • Able to speak, read and write English
  • Prior forklift and walker experience 
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic working knowledge of computers and programs related to email and database management
  • Able to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Valid Driver's License

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 50 lbs. daily, approximately 5% of each day
  • Able to life/move more than 50 lbs. and up to 500 lbs. a few times per month
  • Able to walk/stand approximately 8 hours per day


* This is a union position and comes with benefits provided by the union, upon completion of the 90 day probationary period. Benefits include: medical, vision and dental as well as 1 week of paid time off after 1 year of employment.
