School of Applied Science - Research Asst. (Molecular Bio/Biotech/Aquaculture)

[What the role is]
Molecular Biology/Biotechnology/Aquaculture[What you will be working on]
• Work with the project team to achieve the aim of the research project.
• Perform sample processing, gene cloning and SELEX aptamer screening experiments.
• Conduct outdoor sample collection at local fish farms.
• Coordinate with external collaborator on project development.
• Document, collate, analyse and interpret data.
• Carry out procurement, including liaising with vendors, sourcing for materials, equipment and testing, and raising purchase requests.
• Document and track project issues including expenses, budget tracking, action logs and equipment maintenance.
• Working with research team, plan experiment and prepare progress reports for regular project updates.
• Guide and supervise student interns involved in the research project.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by the project team.
[What we are looking for]
• Possess a relevant qualification in Life Sciences or a related field. Basic experience in gene cloning techniques such as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) would be advantageous, though candidates with no prior experience will also be considered.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with people at all levels.
• Possess sound planning, organising, good multi-tasking skills, with a strong sense of responsibility for completing assigned duties on time.
• Proficient in office software including word, excel and PowerPoint and some IT skills.
• Successful candidate will be employed on a contract and project basis (24 months).
