About the Role

Description

The Position:


As a Prep Cook, at Fireside Catering, you will be responsible for prepping ingredients for a wide variety of menus including high end weddings in a scratch kitchen. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, excellent knife skills, and experience in a professional kitchen environment. This job has flexible hours and can work well combined with other jobs. There are both full time and part time hours available.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for dishes, including cutting, chopping, and measuring ingredients
  • Follow recipes and directions provided by the Chefs to ensure that all dishes are prepared consistently and to high quality standards
  • Work with other kitchen staff members to ensure that all prep lists are completed and have been made correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Label and store all prepped food items and ingredients properly.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared and presented in accordance with food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including proper storage and labeling of all food items 
  • Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of all kitchen equipment, including knives, cutting boards, and food processors
  • Ensure that all food waste is minimized and disposed of properly


Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Desire to cultivate your culinary skills; learn proper knife skills, baking, etc.
  • Take pride in your job – We use ingredients from our own farm, The Farm at Gibbet Hill and many local vendors.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to follow direction and ability to work in a fast paced team environment
