JOB SUMMARY
Eastside Catholic School is seeking a Middle School Humanities Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate will support the school’s mission of educating the whole student, demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills, and foster critical thinking within an inclusive, faith-based learning environment.
Specific Responsibilities
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, learning targets and projects in alignment with departmental curriculum
- Collaborate with the Humanities Department to ensure curriculum alignment, integration and consistency
- Plan and teach five class periods, including: Humanities (grades 6, 7 or 8) and potentially a reading/writing support course, using research based instructional best practices
- Develop and maintain curriculum materials, including syllabi, course outlines and assessments aligned with department expectations
- Monitor and assess student’s development and progress in a fair and consistent manner
- Participate in all faculty, department and committee meetings, as required
Requirements
- Strong understanding of and experience in middle school humanities instruction and curriculum design
- Experience with differentiated instruction to support diverse learners
- Proficiency with instructional and classroom technology
- Ability to build positive relationships and maintain open communication with students and families
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, communication and organizational skills
- A commitment to practices that promote equity, inclusion and fostering a sense of belonging
Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in English or a related field required; master’s degree preferred
- Teaching experience in middle school humanities preferred
- A valid teaching certificate preferred
