About the Role

Lead Teacher – Toddler (Ages 2-3)

Full Time 37.5 hours

Overview: 

Family Centers’ Early Care and Education program seeks a highly qualified, passionate, professional educator to join our team as a Lead Toddler Teacher.

The Role: 

The Lead Teacher is responsible for supporting the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child in alignment with Creative Curriculum and NAEYC standards. This role ensures compliance with all applicable licensing and regulatory requirements while building strong partnerships with families to support each child’s growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead classroom staff and volunteers while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally-appropriate environment in compliance with program and licensing standards
  • Plan and implement curriculum aligned with Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies Gold, NAEYC, and licensing requirements
  • Develop and execute weekly lesson plans supporting all areas of child development
  • Supervise, coach, and support assistant teachers and classroom staff
  • Conduct child assessments, maintain accurate records, and communicate progress with families
  • Partner with families to support engagement, communication, and smooth transitions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support children with IEPs or individualized needs
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements, including mandated reporting
  • Maintain an organized, engaging classroom that reflects children’s learning and development
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuous quality improvement efforts
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements: 

  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  • Minimum 2 years of early childhood teaching experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to model professionalism and best practices
  • Ability to maintain a safe, compliant environment and respond effectively in emergencies
  • Sound judgment, organization, and ability to manage priorities; basic technology proficiency required
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and early childhood best practices
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. as needed

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) in Early Childhood Education or related field with 12+ ECE credits
  • Bilingual skills a plus
