GE Oral Communications Instructor

Description
The Adjunct Instructor – Oral Communication is responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality instruction in Oral Communication to college-level students. Success in this position involves fostering an inclusive learning environment, demonstrating subject matter expertise, and providing responsive support to learners. This role is integral to the department's mission of promoting academic excellence and student success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop and deliver lectures, laboratory sessions, and other learning activities on oral communication.
· Design and implement assessments, including exams, quizzes, and assignments, to evaluate student progress.
· Maintain updated course syllabi and instructional materials in compliance with institutional guidelines.
· Incorporate diverse teaching methodologies, including technology-based instruction and active learning strategies.
· Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours, email communication, and advice.
· Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and program review processes.
· Engage in professional development to stay current in the field of communication.
· Engage in professional development for teaching methods, including using distance learning techniques.
· Assist in departmental and institutional initiatives, such as accreditation processes or community outreach programs.
· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
· Master’s degree in communications, journalism, psychology, media studies, or a closely related field required; individuals with credentials in another subject area may be considered with evidence of at least 15 semester credits of communications coursework and relevant related experience to support subject area expertise.
· Demonstrated experience teaching at the college level preferred.
· Proven ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies for diverse learners.
· Experience with online learning management systems/platforms (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas) and instructional technology is a plus.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
