Position Purpose
The Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) provides leadership and operational oversight for Hollenbeck Palms’ 59-bed Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). The Administrator is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and effective facility operations.
This position directs interdisciplinary leadership teams and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations governing skilled nursing facilities, including the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Title 22, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The LNHA promotes a resident-centered care environment while maintaining operational efficiency and financial sustainability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Facility Operations and Leadership
- Direct and oversee daily operations of the Skilled Nursing Facility to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant care delivery.
- Provide leadership and oversight to department managers and interdisciplinary teams.
- Establish operational priorities and ensure effective coordination of clinical and support services.
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and resident-centered care.
Regulatory Compliance and Survey Readiness
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations including Title 22, CDPH, CMS, OSHA, and HIPAA.
- Maintain continuous survey readiness and oversee facility preparation for regulatory inspections and audits.
- Lead facility response to regulatory surveys and oversee corrective action plans when required.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the facility operating budget in collaboration with the Finance Department.
- Monitor financial performance including census trends, reimbursement, labor costs, and operational expenses.
- Oversee revenue cycle processes including Medicare and Medi-Cal reimbursement and billing operations.
- Support cost containment strategies while maintaining quality standards of care.
Clinical Quality and Resident Care
- Partner with the Director of Nursing and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of safe and effective resident care.
- Promote quality improvement initiatives through the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
- Monitor key clinical indicators including infection control, falls, rehospitalizations, and resident satisfaction.
- Ensure the protection of resident rights and promote resident dignity and quality of life.
Workforce Leadership
- Supervise and support department leaders responsible for nursing, clinical services, and facility operations.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and staff development initiatives.
- Foster a positive work environment that supports staff retention and professional development.
Strategic and Organizational Leadership
- Participate in organizational planning and support the strategic goals of Hollenbeck Palms.
- Utilize operational and clinical metrics to guide performance improvement and decision-making.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support the mission and long-term sustainability of the organization.
Emergency Preparedness and Risk Management
- Ensure implementation of emergency preparedness and disaster response plans in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee facility risk management activities including incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
Resident, Family, and Community Relations
- Maintain effective communication with residents and families regarding care concerns and facility operations.
- Represent the Skilled Nursing Facility in interactions with regulatory agencies, community partners, and healthcare providers
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Licensure
- Active and unrestricted California Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) license required.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
- Demonstrated experience managing SNF financial operations and reimbursement systems including Medicare and Medi-Cal.
Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of California SNF regulations and long-term care operations.
- Knowledge of CMS quality reporting programs including QAPI, PBJ staffing reporting, and Five-Star quality metrics.
- Strong leadership, financial management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and healthcare management systems.
Physical Requirements
The Nursing Home Administrator must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to use standard office equipment including computers and telephones.
- Occasionally lift or carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
