About the Role

Overview

McGuireWoods is searching for a Human Resources Coordinator to join our team in Richmond, VA or Chicago, IL. This person will provide administrative and operational support to the Employee Relations team, with a focus on supporting employee relations activities and day-to-day HR operations. This role helps ensure the efficient, consistent execution of HR processes while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Employee Relations team across HR activities
  • Assist with employee relations matters, including intake, documentation, tracking, and follow-up
  • Support preparation of employee communications and documentation (e.g., performance discussions, corrective actions)
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics for HR-related meetings and investigations
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including system updates and documentation
  • Partner with HRIS and internal teams to ensure accurate data entry and reporting
  • Respond to routine employee and manager inquiries, escalating issues as appropriate
  • Support process improvements and maintain standardized HR procedures
  • Assist with special projects and HR initiatives as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and 1–2 years of HR, recruiting, or related experience
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn HR systems
  • Strong follow-through and ability to work independently
