Responsibilities

  • Integrates the UnityPoint Health Des Moines Nursing Expectations of Performance in all aspects of care delivery and professional practice
  • Contributes to the maintenance of high quality, cost effective services consistent with the needs of the users and the hospital’s budgetary guidelines
  • Provides clinical leadership by directing, coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner, allowing for flexibility
  • Acts as an interdepartmental liaison promoting effective multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  • Remains competent and available to participate in patient care pertinent to clinical specialty
  • Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting patient care
  • Assists in the development of policy/procedure and guidelines for safe, efficient operation of the department as needed
  • Assists in developing annual budget and takes appropriate action when appropriate to maintain control of department financial resources
  • Implements evidence-based practice strategies to meet the patient care needs
  • Interviews, orients, trains, schedules, evaluates, disciplines, and terminates staff with appropriate input

Qualifications

Education:

Registered nurse with active RN license

Willing and able to achieve BSN within 3 years

 

Experience:

One-year experience as a registered nurse

Experience in specialty area preferred 

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

Current Iowa license as a registered nurseCurrent BCLS (CPR)Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
