Job Summary

Delivery driver makes deliveries and pickups along with loading and unloading of trucks. They work safely at all times. They are friendly, observant, and able to determine customer needs and communicate that information to the Manager and/or Warehouse Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Safely operate commercial vehicles and maintain a clean appearance by complying with organization operational policies, procedures, and standards, as well as state and local driving rules and regulations; cleans truck exterior and interior.

· Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and provide detailed information to management on a daily basis related to customer service, operating discrepancies, and other administrative data.

· Maintain trucks operating efficiency by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; scheduling repairs.

· Keep delivery, truck, and driving records by obtaining receipt acknowledgments; recording tracking information; completing driver log and truck performance forms.

· Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

· Assist with loading and unloading at other locations.

· Understand the shipping documents that are associated with each delivery and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.

· At the end of the workday, remove keys from the truck and store keys in the approved location.

· Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

· Other warehouse duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications – Education, Experience, License/Certifications:

· Must have a clean driving record.

· Must be at least 21 years old of age.

· Must pass drug testing and background check.

· High school diploma or equivalent

· A proper and valid driver's license for the vehicle(s) being driven

· A driving record that demonstrates good driving skills in compliance with Company policy

· No convictions for reckless driving within the past 5 years

· No convictions for DUI within the past 5 years

· No suspensions or revocations within the past 5 years

· No serious violations within the previous 12 months (15 mph or greater, following too closely, improper passing, traffic offenses committed in a CMV in connection with a fatality)

· No more than 1 moving violation within the past 12 months

· No more than 2 moving violations within past 3 years

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Experience driving trucks larger than 20ft.

· Good knowledge of Orange and Los Angeles counties.

· Proficient at scheduling routes and being deadline-oriented.

· Dependable and energetic in working in a team environment.

· Excellent organizational skills as you will be working with both the shipping/receiving manager and the management team to coordinate your daily driving schedule.

· Loading of items in to the truck to be delivered.

· Secure the load properly; so that nothing will shift or get damaged.

· Ensure the necessary equipment to safely unload item is available.

· Forklift certification is a plus.

· Know laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.

· Know of, be able to apply and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.

· Able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.

· Able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.

· Able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.

· Read, write, speak and understand English.

Physical Requirements

· Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, sit, and climb in and out of delivery trucks frequently throughout the day.

· Strength: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.

· Endurance: Ability to work on your feet for extended periods, including walking and standing for several hours at a time.

· Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and arms for loading and unloading items, operating delivery vehicles, and handling material-handling equipment such as dollies or pallet jacks.

· Visual Requirements: Ability to read and interpret maps, road signs, and delivery documents, and inspect deliveries and vehicle conditions.

· Hearing and Communication: Ability to hear and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and dispatch, including over the phone or radio.

· Environmental Tolerance: Ability to work outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditions and environments, including warehouses and delivery sites.

· Driving: Ability to sit for extended periods while driving and safely operate commercial vehicles over long distances.

· Flexibility and Coordination: Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and twist as needed for loading and unloading items and securing cargo.

· Cognitive Requirements: Ability to remain alert and focused during driving and delivery tasks, and to respond quickly to changing traffic or work conditions.

Compensation:

The base compensation range for this full-time position is $25-$28 per hour plus benefits. Compensation ranges are determined by various factors, including role, experience, and location. The pay range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within the range, actual individual compensation is determined by various factors, including location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
