Base manager (start in the field)

Aviant makes drone delivery a reality. Founded at MIT in 2020, we have signed twenty commercial contracts across Scandinavia, completed more than 8,000 flights covering over 50,000 km, built a strong team of 20 people, launched Kyte, one of only two live drone delivery services in Europe, and established a leading position in the European drone market. Due to strong commercial traction, we are expanding our operations team.

About the position

We are looking for a driven, hands-on individual to join our operations team in Ski, Norway — someone who wants to own drone operations from the ground up and grow into leading a base.

You will start as a Drone Operator: flying our fleet, running commercial deliveries, and maintaining equipment to the highest standard. As operations scale, your role grows with it. The goal is for you to become the Base Manager responsible for all operations at the Ski base — overseeing people, safety, performance, and customer delivery.

This is not a role for someone who wants to stay an operator forever, nor for someone who wants to skip the operational foundation. It is for someone who genuinely enjoys working in the field and wants to build something.

Responsibilities

• Operation, handling, and maintenance of drone equipment

• Do end-to-end testing of the new developments on the drone platform.

• Executing commercial delivery operations and advanced technical test flights.

• Ensuring safe, high-quality operations in line with company standards.

• Supporting and progressively leading operations on customer projects.

• Growing toward full responsibility for base operations: staffing, planning, and performance.

Qualifications

• Practical mindset with strong problem-solving skills — you enjoy fixing things in the field

• Ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and ensure stable operations

• Good communication and collaboration skills

• Comfortable taking on responsibility and leading tasks or projects

• Good technical understanding; relevant operational experience is an advantage

• Genuine ambition to grow into a management role — this is a requirement, not a preference

• Fluent in spoken and written English

• Valid driver's license for car
