Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida Tennessee and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. What will you do as a Residential Therapist?

  • As a Residential Therapist you will be needed to work Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. Your schedule may vary based on clinical needs of the youth receiving services. This will also include being flexible to work rotating weekends.
  • A typical day as a Residential Therapist will include providing individual and group therapy, completing Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, attending Child & Family Team meetings, and developing and monitoring person-centered plans for youth in our residential facility.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Master's degree in human services related field required
  • Associate or provisional license required
  • A minimum of 1 years of relevant professional experience
  • Availability to be flexible and work rotating weekends
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software, excellent written and oral communication skills. Provisional or fully licensed to practice therapy in North Carolina (depending on specific program).
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the program(s) you lead
  • All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
