Purpose / Summary:

 

 

                                                  

A diver is someone who is responsible for the safety of students exiting the simulator from the time the simulator enters the water till the time the student has contact with the side of the pool or the shallow platform. A diver authority will supersede the instructor if the diver identifies any unsafe act and will immediately call a stop

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Possess an in depth knowledge of all the procedures relating to the students eggressing the simulator 
  • To be properly donned with all the required diving equipment needed to dive
  • Be able to identify any hazards involving the student and instructor simulator training
  • Be able to identify any unsafe dive equipment and report such items to the facility manager
  • Ensure that there is always sufficient air in the tanks before commencing with any dives
  • Insure that the safety procedures are followed as described
  1. There be no persons under the simulator 
  2. That there is not more than one red helmet student in the simulator
  3. Ensure that one  diver is strategically placed on  each side of the simulator   
  •  Be able to assist instructors with practical exercises that may be required before the simulator exercises
  • Assist instructors in the event of an emergency by being alert and ready to assist a student to the surface who may have panicked inside the simulator and was assisted out the simulator by the instructor.
  • Assist red helmet students to and from the simulator before and after each simulator exercise
  • Be able to give medical assistance for any emergency that may occur 
  • Be able to activate EMS should the emergency be beyond the divers training qualifications
  • Be trained and qualified to administer oxygen
  • Be ready to assist with pulling out the window or door if the student is unable to force the window or door out.
  • Be able to retrieve any window or door from the bottom of the pool for re insertion for the next exercise
  • Be prompt and dependable in accordance with scheduled obligations
  • Be available to assist with any clean up after completion of HUET exercises including but not limited to;     
  1. Putting up all dive equipment in there allocated area’s
  2. Putting up all coveralls and helmets left by students
  3. Ensuring that all laundry is collected and put in allocated area for cleaning
  4. Putting up/preparing/cleaning all EBS equipment as required
  5. Ensuring that all change room floors are mopped up and all clean
