Pay: Starting at $46,500 per year

Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 8am – 4pm


SUMMARY & MISSION STATEMENT:

Midwest Food Bank (MFB) is a $548M non-profit organization with 10 divisions in the U.S. and 2 operations internationally. The Texas Division is looking for a mission driven servant leader with a heart for faith-based service and community outreach. JOB ROLE PURPOSE & SUMMARY:

The Volunteer Coordinator oversees and facilitates the overall coordination of the Texas Division volunteers. This includes all aspects of volunteer recruitment, scheduling, placement, project leadership, and engagement. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for leading volunteers to accomplish the duties of the role and to support Texas Division operations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Advance the Texas Division operations, specific needs, and projects through volunteer engagement opportunities with support of Executive Director.
  • Create and grow digital platforms to inspire volunteer engagement and involvement.
  • Recruit volunteers to support Texas Division operations through community awareness and invitations to support specific needs.
  • Engage volunteers with intentionally crafted environments that trigger positive emotions and a fun, safe atmosphere.
  • Identify, train, and schedule lead volunteers to host groups and represent the MFB brand in an engaging, safe environment.
  • Nurture volunteers through encouragement, mentoring, appropriate placement, and supervision; nurture lead volunteers through annual re-training sessions.
  • Collaborate with Operations/Warehouse/Agency roles to schedule and support individual and groups of volunteers to provide safe and meaningful projects to meet loadout needs.
  • Manage volunteer opportunities, hours, and requests through the registration software.
  • Plan and execute formal volunteer appreciation event(s) annually.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Model MFB’s five core values of: Serving Those in Need, Empowering Volunteers, Embracing Our Communities, Working with Integrity, and Executing Through Teamwork.
  • Foster a Christ-centered culture; develop positive relationships and appreciation for volunteers, employees, partner agencies, and community and business contacts.
  • Ensure compliance with all MFB policies, procedures, and rules and with all contractual obligations, regulatory standards, and relevant laws.
  • Recruit, identify, train, and continue to nurture volunteers in support of job role.
  • Network with peers locally and nationally and across the MFB organization.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-years relevant work experience, 5-years desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Human Services, or related field.
  • Proven experience recruiting, training, and leading high-performing volunteer teams that multiply resources and expand community impact.
  • Experience using interpersonal skills to influence a community and maintain a strong brand image.
  • Proven initiative, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills.
  • Superior professional communications, verbal, written, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to use technology or learn computer skills, such as Office 365, Excel, Salesforce, etc.
  • Willingness to participate in training including development of professional skills, education in MFB’s policies and procedures, and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Flexible work environment including some evenings and weekends.
  • Hands-on service environment with volunteers and staff.
  • Team based setting supporting large scale food distribution.
  • Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in an office setting; periods of movement in a warehouse setting.
  • Minimal in-state and out-of-state reimbursed travel as needed.
