About the Role

Description


Role Summary
The Business Unit Manager leads PPS’s Gas Distribution Construction division with full accountability for safety, operations, financial performance, client relationships, and strategic growth. This role owns P&L results, drives operational excellence, and builds high-performing teams in a regulated utility environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day gas distribution construction operations, ensuring safety, quality, compliance, and productivity.
  • Own full P&L performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, margin improvement, and revenue growth.
  • Develop and lead project managers, supervisors, and field teams; drive accountability, performance, and workforce readiness.
  • Serve as the primary client contact; manage contracts, change orders, and long-term utility relationships.
  • Champion safety and regulatory compliance in partnership with Safety leadership.
  • Execute strategic plans to expand market presence, improve processes, and grow the business unit.

Qualifications Required

  • 7+ years in gas distribution construction, utility contracting, or related      infrastructure.
  • Proven leadership of large field operations or business units with P&L      responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of gas distribution systems, construction practices, and      regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in financial performance, client management, and safety      leadership.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related      field.
  • Experience with major utility clients in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic.
  • Proficiency with project, scheduling, and cost management systems.
