Ellett Memorial Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri.  We are a 12-bed facility for Acute Care and Extended Care (Swingbed).  In addition, we provide 24 Hour Emergency Room Services with 24 Hour Laboratory, Radiology and Ambulance Services.

Ellett Memorial Hospital owns and operates the Appleton City Rural Health Clinic, which provides Monday-Friday primary care as well as hosts a variety of specialty clinics each month.

About the Role:

The Environmental Services position within the Health Care  industry is critical to maintaining a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role ensures that all healthcare facilities meet stringent sanitation standards to prevent the spread of infections and promote overall health and safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing cleaning protocols, managing waste disposal, and supporting infection control measures. By maintaining high standards of cleanliness, this role directly contributes to the quality of patient care and the operational efficiency of the healthcare facility. Ultimately, the Environmental Services professional plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and safe environment that supports healing and well-being.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Clear background check and compliance with health screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in environmental services within a healthcare or social assistance environment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and healthcare-specific sanitation standards.
  • Training in the safe handling of biohazardous materials.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with healthcare teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and deep cleaning of patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, and clinical spaces following established protocols.
  • Properly handle and dispose of medical and hazardous waste in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Use and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies safely and efficiently to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to identify and address areas requiring special attention or immediate cleaning.
  • Document cleaning activities and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
