REPORTS TO: Receiving Manager / On-Site Supervisor / Shipyard Superintendent


WORK HOURS:

Monday – Friday


Day Shift: 7:00am – 3:30pm


40-50 hours per week. Standard 8-hour shifts on a 5-day work week with overtime available. May be asked to work weekends at times.

ABOUT THE JOB: This opportunity is a full-time and benefits-eligible position.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist and work closely with the warehouse team and receiving supervisor by handling the receiving of items from the warehouse and ensuring that shipments are inspected, sorted, and assigned locations to be stored.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:

  • Recording and tracking received shipments
  • Updating Excel spreadsheets
  • Scanning in Purchase Orders
  • Lift, stack and un-stack products and materials.
  • Move raw materials and finished goods to processing or dispatch areas of the facility.
  • Make sure goods are stored in the correct area of the shipyard and/or warehouse so they may be located easily.
  • Load and unload transport vehicles, making sure loads are evenly and securely placed per bill of lading.
  • Make minor adjustments to the forklift.
  • Follow all guidelines as set forth in the forklift driver’s manual and policy.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Work safely and report all unsafe working conditions and/or unsafe acts to the supervisor immediately.
  • Inform yard supervisors of deliveries
  • Direct delivery trucks and support drivers 
  • All other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • All types of physical movement are required for this position to successfully perform the essential functions.
  • Ability to use upper and lower extremities.
  • Ability to work outside in heat, inclement weather, and cold.
  • Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment.
  • Must be able to bend and lift heavy boxes up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to work over bodies of water.
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain, including loose pack gravel. 

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Normal level of visual acuity needed. Must be able to understand and follow directions. Normal hearing level needed. Hand-eye coordination required.


HAZARDS: Weather, fumes, moving mechanical parts, equipment, and vibration.
