Description

BROADCAST ENGINEER

Midwest Communications, Inc - Peoria, IL

Midwest Communications in Peoria, IL is hiring a hands-on Broadcast Engineer to “own” our studios, transmitter sites, and building systems. If you’ve run complex facilities or kept technical operations humming (industrial, office, or large residential), we can train you on broadcast-specific gear.

What you’ll do:

· Own the environment: Keep studios, offices, and shops safe, efficient, and looking sharp (HVAC, electrical, life-safety, generators/UPS, access control).

· Support on-air reliability: Assist with studio/transmitter maintenance, audio over IP, remote broadcasts, and basic RF support (we’ll train).

· IT & audio chain basics: Help with networked audio, routing, cabling, patching, and small IT tasks (switches, printers, user setups).

· Vendors & projects: Scope work, manage contractors, quote and schedule upgrades, and coordinate site access.

· Compliance & documentation: Maintain logs, parts inventory, equipment lists, and safety procedures.

· Be a teammate: Partner with engineering and content teams; participate in an on-call rotation for urgent issues.

What you bring:

· Experience: 3+ years in facilities maintenance/management, building systems, or technical operations. Broadcast experience is a plus but not a must.

· Technical comfort: Basic electrical / mechanical aptitude; ability to read manuals/schematics; low-voltage / cabling skills.

· Nice-to-haves: Networking fundamentals; Audio-over-IP familiarity; RF curiosity; light carpentry/finish skills.

· Physical: Able to lift 50 pounds, use ladders, and occasionally work at heights.

A valid driver’s Illinois license and a good driving record are required.

We offer a competitive salary and a full benefits package.
