As the Machinist II you will set up and operate conventional, special purpose, numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality precision parts.

Requirements

In this role you will also: 

  • Operate and set up various machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and NC machines, to produce precision parts. 
  • Interpret detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining processes and tolerances while learning GD&T symbols. 
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and tooling systems to produce components based on technical drawings and job requirements. 
  • Perform precision machining tasks, including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding, to meet high-quality standards and exact specifications. 
  • Preform moderate inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gage pins, internal micrometers) to inspect parts and ensure they meet tolerance and quality requirements. 
  • Program, set up, and operate NC machines, adjusting as needed to ensure accurate production runs. 
  • Identify and resolve issues with machines, tooling, or parts, including troubleshooting machine malfunctions and adjusting settings to correct problems. Seeks help for complex problems.  
  • Follow all safety protocols, wear proper protective equipment, and maintain a clean and safe work environment. 
  • Work closely with level III machinists, and other team members to improve machining processes, product quality, and efficiency. 
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction; recommend improvements to machining processes, tooling, and workflows to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Your Contributions

  • High School Diploma -Required
  • Associate's degree in management and/or Technical Certificate with 1-3 year of relevant work experience- Preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude. 
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. 
  • Ability to read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Ability to interpret specifications, schematics, job orders, and company policies and procedures for employees.
  • Ability to inspect materials, products, and/or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, time management and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and must be organized.
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes.
