Automation Coordinator

Description
This is a 12-hour rotating shift position - 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Principal Area of Responsibility:
Individual will be responsible for maintaining/troubleshooting control hardware and making changes/improvements to control software that is used in the manufacturing processes. Individual will also be responsible for mechanical work including machine tooling changeovers, mechanical system maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting.
Specific Duties:
- Troubleshoot, maintain, repair/replace and test automation systems, components, and networks.
- Provide assistance to engineering, operations, and maintenance relating to process issues and/or improvements.
- Monitor and adjust robot motions/points as needed to ensure product quality and machine uptime.
- Perform changeovers on coiners and end of line systems.
- Perform frequent quality checks through the use of micrometers and calipers.
- Perform measurements on tooling through the use of micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.
- Replace worn/broken mechanical, electrical and pneumatic machine components.
- Learn basic setup functions for molding presses
- Consult with automation component suppliers to specify products for installation, and also arrange for purchases of equipment, tooling, materials and/or parts.
- Plan, schedule and provide training for the department as required.
- Participate in, or lead, Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
Requirements
Knowledge:
Candidate should have competent troubleshooting skills in PLC programming, servo systems, and variable frequency drives. Thorough knowledge and/or experience in industrial automation networks, safety devices, and electrical/ pneumatic/hydraulic systems. Basic understanding of CNC and CAD (AutoCAD). Machine vision and industrial robotics knowledge and/or experience a plus. Mechanical capabilities for changing over coiner tooling as well as robotic end of arm. Thorough knowledge and/or experience in manufacturing equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 2 years related experience in a manufacturing environment. Plant floor maintenance or technical experience a plus. Must also have certification, or equivalent experience and knowledge, of electrical power distribution. Must possess strong communication skills, analytical abilities and have the ability to multi-task.
Essential Functions:
· Perform operations in a safe manner.
· Review equipment at the beginning of shift to ensure proper working order.
· Ensure needed materials are ready and notify supervision of shortages.
· Adjust equipment parameters as stated in the router.
· Operate equipment as stated in the router.
· Perform quality checks per control plan.
· Complete hour by hour boards with documentation of issues if goals are not attained and identify opportunities for improvement.
· Monitor equipment to ensure optimum running and notify supervision of any equipment issues.
· Complete specific preventative maintenance procedures.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.

· Work 12-hour shift/crew schedule 6am – 6pm
Education:
Minimum of an Associates of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology or Vocational Technical Training in machine controls and mechanical systems, or a minimum of 5 years of proven, equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or training.
