Position: Branch Manager

Reports To: Director of Operations (DOO)

Department: Service

FLSA Status: Exempt


Position Summary

The Branch Manager leads staff and daily operations of assigned branch location(s) to ensure efficiency, quality service delivery, and customer satisfaction. This role works closely with technicians, dispatch, sales, office personnel, management, and customers. The position includes direct supervisory responsibilities and requires independent decision making.


Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Directs daily operations and communicates with technicians, customers, sales, and internal teams.
  • Provides technical guidance to technicians to meet workload and customer expectations.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and develops staff to maintain adequate workforce levels.
  • Conducts timely performance reviews and sets employee development goals.
  • Manages employee relations, discipline, and terminations in accordance with company policy.
  • Supervises technicians performing repair, installation, service, and startup tasks; ensures quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Reviews work for adherence to standards and implements continuous improvement.
  • Coordinates ongoing training for technicians on safety, equipment, and procedures.
  • Conducts group and individual meetings for communication, training, and safety.
  • Communicates daily with dispatch regarding job status, labor hours, and scheduling needs.
  • Maintains current knowledge of industry trends through training and development activities.
  • Reviews work orders, invoices, and time reports for accuracy and resolves discrepancies.
  • Builds and maintains vendor and customer relationships.
  • Communicates business updates and policy changes to branch staff.
  • Promotes safe working practices and ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Represents the company professionally in all interactions.

Marginal Functions/Responsibilities

  • Assists with quoting and sales processes as needed.
  • Provides backup support to office personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Requirements

Education/Experience/Training Requirements

  • Supervisory experience in HVAC/R or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of related field experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Experience with ERP software preferred; SamPro experience a plus.

Licensing Requirements

  • EPA certification or ability to obtain within 6 months required.
  • Valid Class D driver’s license and insurability required.
  • Federal Medical Card preferred.

Skills/Abilities Requirements

  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Technical knowledge of HVAC/R systems and ability to interpret manuals, schematics, and control circuits.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Proficient in learning new software systems.
  • Ability to travel between locations up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to work non standard schedules including on call, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Language, Math & Reasoning Skills

  • Ability to read and write clear instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to present information effectively in small groups.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to written or verbal instructions and resolve routine problems.

Physical Demands

Stationary Position Frequently seated at a desk 6–8 hours; occasionally seated in a vehicle 2–4 hours during travel.

Move Frequently walks through jobsites and facilities.

Operate Uses a computer and standard office equipment frequently; occasionally operates lifts, power tools, and other equipment.

Ascend/Descend Occasionally climbs stairs and ladders, including rooftop access.

Positions self Occasionally bends, stoops, or works in confined spaces.

Communicate Communicates frequently with customers and staff; must hear, speak, and exchange accurate information.

Observe/Inspect Uses close, distance, and peripheral vision to inspect work and perform computer tasks.

Transport Occasionally lifts/moves up to 50 lbs.

Exposed to May work near moving mechanical parts, loud noise, vibration, and outdoor weather conditions.
