About the Role

Description

The supply chain lead is responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain strategy for a regulated medical device and advanced ceramics manufacturing organization. This role holds enterprise-level accountability for raw material procurement, manufacturing planning, implant and instrument set logistics serving hospital demand through independent distributors, contract manufacturing fulfillment for medical OEM and industrial customers, and working capital optimization.

Requirements


Implant & Instrument Set Supply (Distributor Model)

• Ensure reliable availability of finished ceramic implants and surgical instrument sets.

• Manage distributor consignment inventory and replenishment cycles.

• Oversee instrument tray deployment, tracking, refurbishment, and rotation.

• Maintain UDI traceability and lot integrity across distributed field inventory.

• Achieve >98% case fulfillment while optimizing field inventory investment.


Contract Manufacturing – Medical OEM Customers

• Manage demand planning and production alignment for OEM customers.

• Ensure adherence to quality agreements and regulatory supplier controls.

• Align capacity planning with customer forecasts and agreements.

• Support OTIF performance targets.

• Reduce lead times and improve forecast accuracy.


Contract Manufacturing – Industrial Customers

• Oversee supply chain planning for non-regulated industrial ceramic components.

• Balance capacity allocation between medical and industrial production lines.

• Optimize margins and raw material utilization.

• Manage logistics and distribution for industrial customer shipments.


Strategic Supply Chain Leadership

• Develop and execute integrated supply chain strategy aligned with growth and EBITDA targets.

• Advise President on supply risk, capacity constraints, and working capital exposure.

• Lead formal S&OP; process integrating distributor demand, OEM forecasts, and manufacturing capacity.


Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or related field.

• 7–12+ years of progressive supply chain experience in medical device or precision manufacturing.

• Experience managing distributor-based implant logistics and OEM contract manufacturing.

• Strong knowledge of FDA QSR / ISO 13485 supplier control requirements.

• ERP/MRP system proficiency.

• Demonstrated working capital improvement track record.


Individual contributor role (no direct reports) with end-to-end supply chain accountability.
