Recycle Center Equipment Operator

Description
The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of equipment including but not limited to loader, excavator, skid steer, and other stationary recycling equipment. Clearing and properly transferring of materials, as well as the preventive maintenance on the equipment and work areas.
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspect fluids and hoses on loader daily
- Transfer material from the tip floor to the backhoe operator
- Keep loads pushed up, and keep tip floors open for customers
- Maintain cleanliness both inside and outside of the building
- Ensure belts are on track and in good shape also monitor the quality of material coming off the belts
- Communicate with recycling center manager on quality of loads
- Clean load pit daily
- Ensure tires, appliances and furniture pulled are transferred to designated areas
- Spot check to ensure there are no hazardous materials, or non-recyclable items in load
- Assist facility manager with any maintenance as requested
- Load material into infeed hoppers, keep recycling lines fed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience with heavy equipment
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience with heavy equipment

WORK CONDITIONS
Outdoor environment; exposure to extreme weather conditions; work with and around heavy machinery; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; exposure to noise, odors and gases; exposure to heavy traffic conditions, possible exposure to toxic chemicals.
