About the Role

About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use):

15

As VP, Head of APAC Commercial, you will lead a team of experienced sales leaders, relationship managers, and commercial specialists across APAC and report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer. This role is accountable for commercial transformation across the region—modernizing go-to-market execution, accelerating adoption of the Energy portfolio, and building new revenue streams (new segments, new solutions and new routes to market). You will strengthen our brand presence with key customers across APAC by elevating executive engagement, sharpening account strategy, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver both near-term performance and long-term growth.

You will work with regional and global stakeholders to develop and execute a transformation plan covering sales strategy, operating rhythm, coverage model, pipeline discipline, and scalable commercialization designed to improve customer outcomes and unlock incremental growth. Remaining relevant to the markets we serve is central to the mission; this role will help shape how S&P Global Energy evolves to meet tomorrow’s APAC market needs.

The Team

The team is composed of sales and commercial professionals across key APAC markets. We operate in a collaborative, performance-driven environment with an entrepreneurial spirit. As a senior commercial leader, you will be part of the Global Commercial Leadership team and supported by colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experience.

The Impact

You will build and lead a high-performance organization that develops strong, long-lasting customer relationships by positioning solutions and products for enterprise, government, and industry stakeholders across APAC. You will raise the team’s credibility and effectiveness by embedding best practices in forecasting, pipeline management, account planning, and portfolio management, while personally leading critical strategic deals and executive relationships.

Critically, you will create and scale new revenue streams by identifying whitespace opportunities across APAC (new customer segments, emerging energy transition needs, adjacent workflows, and partner-led growth) and translating them into repeatable commercial plays that drive durable ARR and retention.

The role has broad visibility, impact, and influence across the wider S&P Global ecosystem. Operating in a highly matrixed environment, the VP engages with and influences multiple leadership groups across divisions, providing leadership and perspective in various forums, including cross-divisional regional networks and business lines and product leadership teams.

This role offers the opportunity to help transform a world-class global commercial organization while driving profitable growth across commodity classes and distribution channels in APAC.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a regional APAC sales organization to exceed assigned net-sales goals, customer experience metrics, and strategic objectives, while building a transformation roadmap to sustain growth.
  • Design and execute APAC commercial transformation initiatives, including territory/coverage optimization, account segmentation, playbooks, pricing/packaging inputs, and standard operating cadence.
  • Develop and execute in-depth account-based sales strategies: discovering needs, diagnosing customer problems, presenting solutions, renewing subscriptions, expanding footprint, and landing new logos.
  • Establish an APAC new-revenue-stream agenda (e.g., new verticals, new buyer personas, new products/workflows, new partner/channel motions) and convert it into measurable pipeline and closed-won outcomes.
  • Proactively engage senior client stakeholders and C-suite decision makers—articulate the S&P Global Energy story, lead outbound efforts, and set a high bar for executive-level customer engagement.
  • Lead and influence throughout the Region and Enterprise by operating within a highly matrixed structure. Offer guidance and perspective in diverse settings, such as cross-divisional regional networks, business lines, and product leadership groups.
  • Partner closely with regional and global Marketing and third-party channel partners to develop scalable demand generation and partner-led growth opportunities across APAC.
  • Own customer retention and expansion performance across APAC: improve satisfaction (including NPS), reduce downgrade risk, and maximize upsell/cross-sell through value realization and renewal excellence.
  • Drive tight cross-functional execution with Business Lines, Product Management, Customer Experience, Marketing, and Technology to accelerate revenue growth and deliver market-relevant innovation for APAC customers.
  • Manage and drive the creation and assignment of sales goals, retention goals, compensation plans, and travel/expense budgets for team members in the region.
  • Establish best practices for sales methodology adoption, forecasting discipline, pipeline hygiene, and inspection—including consistent use of CRM and performance dashboards.
  • Coach and develop leaders and front-line sellers: build capability in consultative selling, value-based positioning, transformation storytelling, and complex enterprise negotiation.
  • Build and sustain a united, world-class team with high engagement, clear expectations, and behaviors aligned to Energy and Commercial Culture values.
  • Serve as the APAC regional commercial leader, providing direction, coaching, and advocacy for the region in global forums.
