About the Role

Description

Responsible for providing instruction and training to English Language Learning students in the Career Education Center. Develops individual achievement plans and academic goals to ensure student academic achievement in the program. Works with the CTT Instructors to infuse applied academics into CTT curricula to enhance student learning and success. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity. .


Administration Procedures


  1.  Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instruction in the area of English Language Learning. 
  2.  Endeavors to promote a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting, ensuring maximum student motivation.
  3. Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom in order to ensure maximum learning.
  4. Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
  5.  Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.
  6. Ensures the Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.
  7. Responsible to provide ELL students with educational training leading to GED/HSD completion and improved literacy and numeracy skills. 
  8. Provides ELL students with comprehensive and individualized case management that ensures student progress, achievement, and completion of the Job Corps program.
  9. Ensures the classroom is well organized and conducive to student learning. Holds students accountable for following the Center's dress code/behavioral standards of conduct.
  10. Produces quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely, and accurate manner.
  11. Maintains appropriate personal attendance, accountability and work productivity standards.
  12.  Plans prioritizes, and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
  13. Understands and applies job knowledge to effectively complete all required job responsibilities. Proactively maintains the skills required to perform job duties.
  14.  Mentors monitor and model the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
  15. Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population. Takes swift and appropriate action and positively influences student behavior. Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.
  16. Provides quality programs and services for students and ensures that quality is maintained and student needs are met. Pursues improvement and enhancement of programs and services.
  17. Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
  18. Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas. Identifies problems, analyzes causes, and evaluates appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions. Follows up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and that problems are in fact corrected.
  19. Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.
    o Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.
  20. Other duties as assigned. 
  21. Conducts audits of ATARS; develops corrective action as needed.
  22. Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
  23. Assists with quarterly graduation exercises.
  24. Adheres to required property control policies and procedures.
  25. Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  26. Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
  27. Demonstrates and abides by The Bizzell Group’s core values and operating principles.
  28. Models, mentors, and monitors appropriate Career Success Standards.
  29. Participation in PRH-mandated staff training is mandatory. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  30. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.

Computer Literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.

Strong knowledge of the subject area of instruction and academic teaching practices.

High level of communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.

High level of ability to motivate, inspire, and educate students effectively.


Experience

Minimum of one to two years related experience in education.

 Previous experience working with an ELL population is preferred. 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in education from a four-year college or university is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Certified to teach in the state in which the center is located (RO may waive if the center is unable to hire certified teachers, but the candidate must pursue certification).

Valid State Driver’s License.
