Job Summary

The Injection Molding Machine Operator I is responsible for operating and monitoring plastic injection molding machines to produce thermoplastic parts that meet quality and specification requirements. This entry-level role performs routine machine operation, inspection, and secondary processes under supervision.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate injection molding machines under established procedures and supervision 
  • Monitor machine operation by observing and listening for irregularities or malfunctions 
  • Perform secondary operations, including trimming flash and drilling holes 
  • Conduct visual inspections of parts to ensure conformance to specifications 
  • Accurately count, package, and label acceptable quality parts 
  • Maintain accurate records of production and labor hours 
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned 
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards 
  • Follow all company safety rules, policies, and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be able to lift 55lbs
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work in a noisy and fast paced environment
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend written English for safety, quality, and production documentation purposes

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • At least 1 year Injection Molding Machine Operator experience (preferred)

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

  • Primarily production floor environment
  • Often exposed to loud, bustling or dusty environments
  • Regularly required to sit and stand. 
  • Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
