EQUIPMENT OPERATOR / LABORER


Department: Transportation - Operations

Location:  Mesquite, NV

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Position Summary

Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. is seeking dependable and safety-focused Equipment Operators / Laborers to support railcar unloading and material handling operations at our Mesquite and Glamis yard locations. This role is responsible for operating conveyor systems and heavy equipment to facilitate the efficient transfer of materials from railcars into transport trucks.


This position is structured as an operator-focused role, requiring individuals who are comfortable working with multiple types of equipment, including conveyor systems, loaders, and telehandlers. The Equipment Operator / Laborer plays a critical role in maintaining operational flow, ensuring safe handling of materials, and supporting yard productivity.


The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and capable of working in a physically active outdoor environment while maintaining consistent production output.


Responsibilities

· Operate conveyor belt systems to unload railcars directly into transport trucks

· Operate heavy equipment including loaders and telehandlers to support material movement and site operations

· Monitor material flow during unloading operations to ensure efficiency and prevent blockages or spillage

· Perform general labor duties to support yard operations, including cleanup and site organization

· Conduct routine equipment inspections and report maintenance needs or mechanical issues

· Assist with positioning trucks and coordinating loading/unloading activities with drivers and team members

· Maintain a clean and organized work environment to support safe and efficient operations

· Follow all company safety protocols and operational procedures at all times

· Collaborate with operations personnel to meet daily production targets and scheduling demands

· Perform additional duties as assigned to support yard and operational needs

Requirements

Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills

· Prior experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, telehandlers, or similar machinery preferred

· Experience in industrial, construction, rail, or material handling environments strongly preferred

· Ability to operate or learn conveyor systems and related unloading equipment

· Strong awareness of safety practices in equipment operation and yard environments

· Ability to work extended hours, including overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed

· Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team-based environment

· Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment issues

· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred  


Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

· While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle equipment and materials

· The employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50–75 pounds

· This position requires working outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions

· The role involves exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment operations

· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus  


Work Environment / Position Structure

· This position is based at outdoor yard operations in Mesquite and Glamis locations

· The Equipment Operator / Laborer performs the majority of responsibilities through equipment operation, railcar unloading, and material handling activities

· The role requires continuous coordination with truck drivers, operators, and operations leadership to maintain workflow efficiency

· Schedule is typically Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work based on operational demand

· Shifts range from 8 to 10 hours per day depending on workload and production needs

· This role is hands-on and field-based, requiring active participation in daily operational tasks and equipment usage


Compensation

The Equipment Operator / Laborer position offers a competitive hourly rate of $20.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to base compensation, Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, paid time off, and life insurance coverage. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, equipment proficiency, and overall qualifications.
