SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Senior Center Program Specialist is to organize and implement engaging, fun and inclusive programs and bus trips that appeal to diverse senior interests and needs at the Harman Senior Recreation Center. The ideal candidate should have a passion for serving the senior community and the ability to connect with seniors.
Starting Pay: $19.20 an hour
Schedule: 3/4-time, 30 hours per week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement events and activities for seniors; identify new opportunities to serve a wide range of senior interests, plan activities and event logistics, coordinate implementation, manage budget and evaluate results.
- Ensure the policies are followed.
- Create Senior Center promotional materials including flyers and social media posts. Contribute content to calendars and newsletters.
- Help recruit, train, direct and track hours of volunteers to help with center activities and programs.
- Participate in training programs as assigned.
- Coordinate and communicate with staff and volunteers to develop and implement programs as assigned.
- Be involved with in-house and inter-agency personnel to improve program quality.
- Help establish customer service standards and ensure the standards are put into practice. Communicate with supervisors, co-workers and the public to ensure clear communication.
- Assist in duties to keep the facility visually pleasing, clean, and safe.
- Create and follow through with Surveys for activities and center.
- Work as a team member with the Parks and Recreation staff, West Valley City and Salt Lake County Aging Services, and others.
- Need to exhibit professional work behaviors and establish positive team relations.
- Ensure the programs are safe, employees are protected, and the programs comply with all safety laws and regulations. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience
- Must have basic computer knowledge.
- Must be able to use a copier.
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or a GED equivalent.
- Full-time experience in a Senior Center or a similar position preferred.
- Experience with Canva preferred.
Language Skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing with the use of proper grammar.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
- Able to get a Food Handlers permit within 1 month.
- Able to get a Commercial Driver License (CDL) within 3 months. Current CDL preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Work as a team member.
- Exhibits professional work behaviors such as punctuality and appropriate use of time.
- Has the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to set up and take down tables and chairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly.
