IT Director – Southeastern Connecticut

What You'll Do:
As IT Director, you will lead SCADD's technology operations with a focus on service excellence, cybersecurity, process automation, and staff enablement. You will manage IT projects from infrastructure refreshes to Microsoft 365 adoption, drive workflow improvements across departments, and serve as a trusted technology partner to leadership — all in support of an organization dedicated to helping people rebuild their lives.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership and supervision for the IT team, fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture
- Oversee daily IT operations and service delivery across all locations, ensuring effective support, ticket management, and system availability
- Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues and coordinate resolution with vendors and partners
- Manage vendor relationships, including negotiating agreements, monitoring SLAs, and ensuring high-quality service and cost control
- Lead IT projects including infrastructure refreshes, migrations, security enhancements, and software rollouts — managing planning, timelines, risk, and communications
- Support and oversee cybersecurity practices including MFA, endpoint protection, patching, vulnerability management, backup/restore testing, and incident response readiness
- Ensure effective use and support of Microsoft 365 services (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online), collaboration tools, networking, and telephony
- Maintain documentation for systems, network architecture, configurations, and standard operating procedures; report regularly on KPIs including ticket trends, uptime, project status, and risks
- Support IT budgeting and multi-year planning; forecast needs, evaluate technology trends, and recommend investments aligned with organizational strategy
- Assess departmental technology needs and processes, identify manual bottlenecks, and design automated workflows using Microsoft 365, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint, Teams, and Microsoft Forms to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Design and deliver a Microsoft 365 training program including workshops, one-on-one coaching, and quick reference guides; track adoption and staff proficiency over time
- Collaborate with HR and department leaders to support onboarding and offboarding processes, access provisioning, device deployment standards, and change management
- Participate in the orientation of new employees and the transfer of knowledge essential to the performance of duties
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible IT experience in systems administration, networking, cloud services, or equivalent; at least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online)
- Hands-on experience designing and maintaining workflow automation using Power Automate, Power Apps, Microsoft Forms, or similar tools
- Knowledge of networking (firewalls, switches, VPNs, Wi-Fi), endpoint management, and identity/access management with MFA
- Proven vendor management and contract/SLA oversight experience
- Strong project management skills with the ability to communicate timelines, risks, and status to non-technical stakeholders
- Certifications such as Microsoft Associate/Expert, CompTIA Network+/Security+, ITIL, or PMP desired
- Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, or behavioral health environments and familiarity with HIPAA/privacy expectations preferred
- Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills
