Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool 

 

Commitment Bonus: $20,000 two-year commitment of employment - one year commitment on nights required  

 

Schedule 3x 12s, Night Shift 6:30/7:00, Rotating Weekends

Join our team as a Float Nurse where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nurse Assistants.  You will play a crucial role in assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care.

Established in 1976, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital has provided quality healthcare to area residents for over 40 years. LCRH is a 295-bed acute care facility, providing healthcare services for an 11-county service area in south central Kentucky.

 

How you'll contribute 

  • Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with. applicable scope and standards of practice across multiple inpatient units. Demonstrates flexibility to float where needed and collaborate with interprofessional teams to support safe, high-quality care.  
  • Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and related medical care.
  • Documents care provided in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Assists with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
  • Displays initiative and flexibility to float throughout the building to support departments and staff.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
  • Assesses learning needs; provides age- and culture-appropriate patient/family education.

  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

  • Participates in performance improvement and required education; works other shifts/units as needed and may take on-call assignments.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.
  • Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present. 
  • Physical Requirements (typical): Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, and repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, and kneeling; rare running or climbing. 
  • Possible exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood/body fluids, hazardous medications, gases/vapors/fumes, and latex.

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple clinical software systems. 

  • Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand). 

  • Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

 

Skills

  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments.  
  • Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple clinical software systems.  
  • Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand).  
  • Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire. 
  • Ability to successfully complete a Cardiac Rhythms Test within 30 days of hire. 

 

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required, bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. 

 

Experience: 

  • 1- 2 years minimum bedside RN experience required; 2- 4 years critical care experience preferred.

 

License: 

  • Current RN license in state of practice. 

 

Certifications: 

  • BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred; Handle with Care preferred. 
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments. 
  • Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple clinical software systems. 
  • Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand). 
  • Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
