Summary

The Assistant Wrestling Coach provides comprehensive support to the Head Coach in the daily management and strategic development of the wrestling program. This role blends technical expertise with mentorship, requiring a coach who can transition seamlessly from high-intensity mat instruction to detailed tactical analysis.

Season runs from 11/17/2026  to 2/13/2027, with the possibility of an extended playoff season through 2/20/2027. 


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Modeling appropriate behavior and following established protocol for injuries. 
  • Responsible for supporting head coaches in the day-to-day operation of the program and other program related duties. 
  • Duties can range from drill instruction and execution to video study and analysis. 
  • The Assistant coach is expected to demonstrate effective teaching skills relative to sport-specific technique, as well as possess the interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, other coaches, and administrators. 
  • The Assistant coach is expected to uphold the mission of the athletic department and ensure all activities comply with school and league regulations.

  • Environment: Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to all weather.
  • Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to sit, walk or stand for prolonged periods of time; in some aspects of the job the requirement to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, may be required; will use repetitive motions on a computer; may frequently lift up 20 lbs. or up to 10 pounds constantly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.; to travel in all modes of transportation; sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to grasp, finger, and feel. 
  • Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience in coaching wrestling is required. 
  • Experience at wrestling and coaching on the high school level-junior varsity, varsity, or both, as a minimum. 
  • The energy and ability to travel regularly.  Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings and evenings for sporting events.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, internet, e-mail, scheduling, and database software programs.)
  • Valid driver’s license
