Child Development Resources serves families with infants and toddlers from birth to age three in Williamsburg, James City County, York County, and Poquoson, Virginia. Early intervention is absolutely critical, so CDR serves children who: * have disabilities or delays in their development * are at risk because of very low family income * have other risk factors such as premature birth, teen parents, or parental substance abuse * need high-quality child care and development services CDR is an invaluable resource for all parents who have questions or concerns about their infant or toddler. CDR also provides services to expectant parents, teen parents, fathers, child-care providers, and other early childhood professionals. We Train Professionals For more than 25 years, CDR has provided state-of-the-art training and technical assistance to child development professionals throughout the country and across the globe.
About the Role

Sibling Group Leader (2) – Temporary Summer Positions

CDR empowers children, families, and early childhood professionals to reach their full potential, regardless of the challenges they may face.

We are pleased to announce two temporary Sibling Group Leader positions within our Children’s Services programs. These summer roles support a unique playgroup experience designed for children ages 3–8 whose younger siblings are enrolled in our Developmental Playgroup. This program allows families to continue participating in services while providing older siblings with a fun, engaging, and enriching environment.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and facilitate engaging, developmentally appropriate playgroup activities for children ages 3–8
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development
  • Work collaboratively with a co-leader and under the guidance of the Developmental Playgroup Coordinator
  • Support children through structured and unstructured play, including indoor and outdoor activities
  • Encourage positive peer interactions and model appropriate behavior
  • Assist with daily routines, transitions, and group management
  • Collaborate with an Art Therapy Intern and other team members to enhance the program experience
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe play environment
  • Communicate effectively with staff and support overall program operations

What You Will Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (college students encouraged to apply)
  • Experience working with children in a group setting preferred
  • Interest in early childhood education, human services, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of child development and family-centered practices
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Positive, energetic, and engaging approach to working with children

Work Environment & Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and actively engage with children throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds as needed
  • Valid driver’s license without restrictions
  • Successful completion of background checks and required screenings
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 2 weeks of hire)

Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (20 hours/week)
  • Duration: 8–10 week summer program
  • Compensation: $15.00 per hour
  • Additional Opportunity: Potential for full-time hours based on program needs
