We are currently hiring for a Machinist-I at our Boise location. This position will perform machining operations in accordance with the job card/drawing specifications under supervision. Operators will utilize manual machining equipment, assembly fixturing, and measurement equipment to ensure product is made to customer specifications.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Safely and accurately set up and operate basic machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders to produce parts in accordance with drawing / specification requirements and safe operating procedures.
- Follow detailed work instructions, blueprints, job cards, and technical drawings to machine parts to specifications; read and comprehend engineering drawings and process specifications required to machine and fabricate high tolerance, complex parts.
- Meet targets for safety, quality, on time delivery, productivity, and cost.
- Produce and verify work according to production schedule and specified requirements.
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy using precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools.
- Report production output accurately.
- Comply with Porvair Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Training Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of machining processes and tools
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
- Able to read and understand inspection equipment (micrometers, rulers, calipers)
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Excellent attention to detail
- Basic math skills are essential
- Good communication skills
- Dependable, detail orientated
Work Environment: Manufacturing/warehouse
Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift materials or components (up to 50+ lbs.).
