Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Operate press brake equipment to fabricate metal components in accordance with customer specifications, blueprints, and quality standards. Responsible for producing quality parts efficiently, accurately reporting production data, maintaining a safe work environment, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate press brake machines and related equipment to bend, form, and fabricate metal parts according to job specifications and blueprints.
- Review work orders, blueprints, and job travelers to verify correct materials, tooling, bend sequences, and dimensional requirements prior to production.
- Adjust tooling, dies, and machine parameters to achieve required tolerances and part quality.
- Perform first piece, in-process (Nth piece), and final inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards. Participate in dual-signature inspections as required.
- Utilize measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, angle gauges, tape measures, and other inspection tools to verify part dimensions.
- Accurately record production counts, labor entries, scrap, and downtime in accordance with company procedures.
- Comply with Wayne Metals, LLC quality system requirements, including defect prevention, error reduction, waste reduction, and use of SPC systems where applicable.
- Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain part quality and production efficiency. Escalate unresolved issues to the Shift Manager or Team Leader.
- Maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and hazard-free work area. Follow all safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
- Remove all old tags, move tickets, and part identification from containers prior to use to prevent product mix-ups.
- Support cross-training efforts and develop proficiency in multiple jobs and equipment within the department.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and communicate maintenance concerns promptly.
- Follow all company policies, work instructions, and established procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior press brake experience preferred
- Experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment is beneficial.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic, including fractions and decimals.
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment accurately.
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operation principles.
- Ability to identify quality defects and make appropriate machine adjustments.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and production reporting.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required up to 40 lbs.
