JOB OVERVIEW:
The selected candidate will oversee the full scope of back-office operations while also providing cross-coverage support for front-office and select clinical functions. This is a highly autonomous role requiring strong expertise in orthopedic billing, coding, and revenue cycle management, as well as the ability to manage day-to-day administrative and financial operations efficiently.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Managing all financial aspects of the practice, including billing, coding, electronic claims submission, and appeals
- Overseeing patient check-in/check-out processes and payment collection
- Reconciling daily charges, batch reports, and preparing bank deposits
- Running aging reports and managing collections through electronic statements
- Serving as the primary contact for vendors and managing invoice payments
- Identifying opportunities to improve revenue cycle efficiency and reduce operational gaps
- Managing contracting, credentialing, and licensure maintenance
- Conducting quarterly practice performance and financial health reviews
ADDITIONAL CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Coordinating surgical scheduling and patient care logistics
- Obtaining insurance authorizations and managing referrals
- Providing preoperative and postoperative patient education
- Issuing DME and managing inventory of medical supplies
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, logs, and documentation
- Scheduling and confirming appointments and processing medical records requests
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSE:
- Knowledge of orthopedic billing and coding standards and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations, reimbursement models, and prior authorization processes
- Experience with credentialing, contracting, and licensure maintenance preferred
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred
- Relevant certifications in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have experience in orthopedic billing and coding or direct experience using Modernizing Medicine EMA and Practice Management (PM) systems
- Experience managing revenue cycle processes, including claims submission, appeals, and collections
- Prior experience in a small practice or multi-functional healthcare role preferred
- Medical assistant experience preferred

- Strong technical proficiency and ability to work within cloud-based systems and digital workflows
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
