OLP is the oldest remaining, single-gender, all-girls’ Catholic school in San Diego. We welcome 750 young women to our campus, forming a diverse educational community that strives to educate students to the needs of society. As a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school, OLP places a strong emphasis on 21st-century learning skills across the curriculum. Job Summary: The role of the Theology Teacher is to enhance, enliven, and promote the integration of Gospel values, the CSJ mission, and the school mission within this all-girls school community. The teacher will be responsible for teaching five sections of Theology classes while modeling behavior that inspires students to become young women of heart, faith, and courage in the spirit of the Sisters of St. Joseph.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Mission Integration: Develops a thorough knowledge of the mission, vision, and values of OLP, embodying them in all interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Instructional Excellence: Creates and implements dynamic lesson plans that empower students to engage with course content intellectually and spiritually.
  • Collaborative Culture: Works with the Theology department to create awareness of CSJ history and mission; seeks cross-curricular opportunities with other departments.
  • Student-Centered Learning: Maintains a classroom environment that goes beyond lecture formats, utilizing a growth mindset to help students develop through trial and error.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: Cultivates an inclusive community where all students can thrive personally and academically.
  • Administrative Duties: Effectively manages instructional time, records assignments in the LMS in a timely fashion, and communicates proactively with department chairs and counselors regarding student progress.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Theology and/or Religious Studies.
  • Experience: Preference for 3+ years of teaching Religious Studies at the high school level.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and the ability to use data to drive decision-making.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, and two professional references from current or former supervisors. Candidates must also provide official transcripts, a current negative TB test result or TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire, complete required training, and successfully complete Livescan fingerprinting. Employment is contingent upon obtaining fingerprint clearance from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
