We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic person to join our Audit & Assurance Business Unit - Assurance as an Actuarial Consultant. This position will be based in our Nairobi office in Kenya.
Job Description
Main purpose of the job
The successful candidate will support the Actuarial and Audit function by providing actuarial services to assigned clients spanning across banking, insurance, securities and funds industries.
What you will do
- Provide actuarial advisory and audit services to clients in life and general insurance, as well as the banking sector.
- Perform actuarial valuations, technical reserve reviews, and model validation for clients.
- Conduct data analysis and modelling using tools such as Excel, SQL, R, Python, and actuarial software (e.g. Prophet).
- Support and contribute to IFRS 17 implementation and other regulatory projects, helping clients meet evolving compliance requirements.
- Participate in insurance company valuations and due diligence projects, providing actuarial insights to support business decisions.
- Develop project proposals and contribute to thought leadership initiatives within the team.
- Build capacity and deliver analytical solutions for clients, including actuarial model development.
- Collaborate with senior colleagues and cross-functional teams, while also managing independent analytical tasks.
- Share expertise and knowledge with team members, fostering continuous learning and development.
- Engage with clients through meetings and presentations, building an understanding of their business needs and communicating findings effectively.
- Gain exposure to a wide range of actuarial projects across different products, markets, and regulatory environments.
Qualifications
- A Bachelors Degree in Actuarial Science.
- At least 3 years of progressive actuarial experience.
- At least 3 professional exams from either SOA, IFOA or any other recognized actuarial body.
- Exposure and experience in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) 17 implementations will be an added advantage.
- Well-developed actuarial programming skills (VBA, R and/ or Prophet will be an added advantage.
- Open to local and international assignments.
