Position Overview:
The Regional Evaluation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating special education evaluations across campuses. This role ensures all evaluations are conducted in compliance with federal and state regulations, including IDEA and Louisiana Bulletin 1508. The coordinator leads the evaluation process from referral through eligibility determination and final dissemination, ensuring timelines are met, documentation is complete, and multidisciplinary teams are aligned. This position requires a strong, thorough knowledge of Bulletin 1508, a clear understanding of the RTI/MTSS processes (Response to Intervention/Multi-Tiered Systems of Support), and the ability to manage multiple evaluations while maintaining compliance and quality. This position reports to the Regional Director of Special Education.
Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
- Coordinate and manage special education evaluations in compliance with IDEA and Louisiana Bulletin 1508
- Oversee the evaluation process from referral through eligibility determination and dissemination
- Monitor and ensure adherence to all evaluation timelines, including initial evaluations and reevaluations
- Facilitate and participate in multidisciplinary evaluation planning meetings and eligibility determinations
- Ensure all evaluation components are completed with fidelity and aligned to referral concerns
- Conduct social history assessments and other evaluation components within the scope of licensure and training
- Review evaluation reports and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Collaborate with Pupil Appraisal Team members, school leaders, and special education staff throughout the evaluation process
- Support and guide school teams through referral, SBLC, and evaluation procedures
- Communicate effectively with families, staff, and stakeholders regarding evaluation processes, required documentation, and next steps
- Maintain accurate records and tracking systems for all evaluations across assigned campuses
- Support Child Find efforts and ensure appropriate identification procedures are followed
- Provide technical assistance and training to school teams on evaluation procedures, MTSS and compliance expectations
- Identify and address barriers that may delay evaluations and implement solutions to maintain compliance
Requirements
- Licensed School Social Worker in the State of Louisiana or Licensed School Psychologist with the ability to administer psychological, psychoeducational assessments and educational assessments.
- Certification (or the ability to obtain certification) through the Louisiana Department of Education
- Strong, thorough knowledge of Louisiana Bulletin 1508 and IDEA regulations
- Experience serving on a multidisciplinary Pupil Appraisal Team
- Experience coordinating or managing special education evaluations
- Experience administering assessments and developing comprehensive evaluation reports
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple evaluation timelines across campuses
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage families, staff, and stakeholders
- Ability to meet strict compliance deadlines with accuracy and consistency
